In a shocking turn of events, the city of Smiths Station, Alabama is grappling with the loss of Mayor Bubba Copeland, who tragically took his own life on November 3rd amidst an ongoing controversy sparked by online posts. As the community mourns the untimely death of their mayor, at least two women have come forward, revealing that they feel victimized and violated.

Flowers and heartfelt notes of remembrance have been placed outside the entrance of Smiths Station City Hall in loving memory of Mayor Copeland, who left a lasting impact on the community. The news of his death came just days after an online report from 1819 News surfaced, featuring photos of Copeland dressed as a woman and allegations of him using local women as subjects in online fiction.

One of the women affected, Ansley Summerlin, spoke out about her shock and distress upon discovering that her name and photos had been posted online without her consent. She revealed, "I had some people start sending me photos that were posted of me on multiple porn sites, I guess you could say, that also had pictures of Brittini, as well. He proceeded to use my first and middle name on these sites, and I believe there are about nine sites now that I have about 5 or 6 photos of my face and my name across the internet."

Another woman, a local hair stylist in Smiths Station who preferred to remain anonymous, shared her harrowing experience of having her name and likeness used without her knowledge in an online story that she believes was authored by Copeland. She expressed her disgust, saying, "It said my first and last name, and it was basically describing the way that I look, and then intensified, I guess, as a porn star, and it went into very graphic detail. I couldn't get past the first page because I honestly couldn't stomach it."

Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones shed some light on the events leading up to Copeland's tragic demise. He explained that deputies had attempted a welfare check on the mayor, resulting in a low-speed pursuit that lasted approximately two minutes. Upon pulling over, Copeland exited his vehicle with a handgun and took his own life.

In light of these disturbing allegations and the mayor's shocking death, Sheriff Jones revealed that all the facts and evidence will be presented to the Lee County District Attorney, who will then bring the case before a grand jury for further review and investigation.

The community of Smiths Station, already grieving the loss of their beloved mayor, now faces the challenge of healing and addressing the allegations brought to light by the affected women. Mayor Bubba Copeland's death has left a painful void in the city, but the hope for justice and closure remains as the investigation continues.
