In a recent interview on NBC News's "Meet The Press," Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) expressed his belief that the narrative at the center of the House's impeachment inquiry into President Biden is "falling apart." Graham argued that if there was a "smoking gun" in the inquiry, there would be more clear discussions.

Graham stated that if there were compelling evidence, it would be widely discussed. However, he believes that the narrative surrounding Hunter Biden's business dealings and Joe Biden's knowledge is disintegrating. "The idea that Joe Biden knew nothing about the business dealings is falling apart," Graham said. He further added that he is currently more concerned about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East than impeaching the president.

Despite acknowledging the House's investigation into Biden's foreign business dealings, Graham admitted to not paying close attention. He mentioned that the House would need to prove that President Biden financially benefited from Hunter Biden's business enterprises, a claim that remains to be seen.

Last week, the House formally authorized its impeachment inquiry into Biden with a narrow vote of 221-212, along party lines. This decision followed months of investigations conducted by House GOP members, who looked into allegations of improper benefits received by Biden and his family through their foreign business dealings. Additionally, House Republicans are examining the Department of Justice's handling of a tax crimes probe into Hunter Biden.

Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) had previously stated that the various GOP probes into Biden would fall under the umbrella of impeachment, although no formal vote was held at that time.

Coincidentally, the vote on the resolution authorizing the inquiry occurred shortly after Hunter Biden's appearance at the Capitol. Rather than fulfilling a scheduled deposition for a subpoena from House Republicans, Hunter Biden made a public statement criticizing the House Republicans. He expressed his preference for testifying in a public setting, while Republicans are seeking a closed-door deposition.

Meanwhile, the White House has launched a campaign to challenge the impeachment inquiry, dismissing it as a "political stunt."

As the House continues its investigation, the validity of the claims against President Biden and his family's business dealings remains to be determined. However, Sen. Lindsey Graham's comments signal a belief that the impeachment narrative is losing traction. Only time will tell whether his assessment holds true and how this will impact the ongoing inquiries.
