In a recent update, the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) announced that a tip they received regarding the whereabouts of missing girl Lina Khil was found to be not credible. After two days of searching a wooded area on the Northwest Side, authorities have concluded the search and are urging the public to come forward with any information.

The search, conducted in collaboration with the FBI, centered around a property located behind apartment complexes near Interstate 10 and Wurzbach Road, approximately a mile away from where Lina Khil was last seen over two years ago. Police spokesperson Ricardo Guzman stated that they had "exhausted all resources" and determined that the tip did not lead to any substantial evidence.

SAPD remains committed to finding Lina Khil and will continue to thoroughly follow up on every tip received. Guzman emphasized that anyone with information should contact the Special Victim's Unit at 210-207-2313.

During the search, investigators were seen with shovels and dogs in an area approximately 500 yards away from where Khil was last seen. This area had been searched before, according to both Guzman and local child advocate and family liaison, Pamela Allen. Allen revealed that officers were potentially searching for a body.

The tip, received on Thursday morning, prompted the search efforts. However, a resident from nearby townhomes reported seeing law enforcement officers at the greenway the night before, noting that an individual in an inmate jumpsuit was present. The resident assumed they had apprehended an escaped inmate from Bexar County Jail.

Lina Khil was three years old when she was reported missing on December 20, 2021. The search in the wooded area near the apartment complexes on Wurzbach and Bluemel roads was prompted by a recent meeting between SAPD, the FBI, and Khil's father, Riaz Sardar Khil. The meeting, taking place the evening before the search, aimed to gather information and explore potential leads.

Authorities have previously released new footage of Khil at the playground on the day she disappeared, as well as an age progression sketch depicting what she may look like now. Riaz Khil also voluntarily underwent a polygraph test in 2023 to aid in clearing his name.

SAPD continues to treat Lina Khil's disappearance as an active missing persons case rather than an abduction. Police Chief William McManus has stated that there is no evidence or video footage suggesting she was abducted.

Guzman noted that SAPD has conducted multiple searches based on various tips over time but did not provide specific numbers. He explained that not all tips are publicized to protect the integrity of the investigation and prevent false hopes for the family.

The FBI has affirmed their commitment to working alongside SAPD and following up on every tip they receive. They expressed their empathy and solidarity with Lina Khil's family and friends.

Anyone with information relating to Lina Khil's disappearance is urged to contact SAPD at 210-224-7867 or the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov.
