GENEVA, Fla. - A tragic accident in Geneva has resulted in the death of two motorcyclists after a Sanford man, allegedly driving under the influence, crashed into their motorcycle on East State Road 46 near Rest Haven Road. The incident occurred around 8:10 p.m. on Saturday, leading to the arrest of 40-year-old Michael Thompson on charges of DUI manslaughter.

According to Florida State Troopers, Thompson was traveling west on State Road 46 and failed to notice the motorcyclist in front of him who had stopped to make a turn into a driveway. In a devastating turn of events, Thompson collided with the back of the motorcycle, causing both the driver and passenger to be thrown off.

In the aftermath of the initial collision, two other vehicles also became involved in subsequent crashes. Fortunately, Thompson and a nine-year-old girl who was a passenger in his truck emerged unscathed. However, one of the drivers of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities swiftly apprehended Thompson at the scene and subsequently charged him with two counts of DUI manslaughter. This grave offense carries significant legal repercussions in the state of Florida.

As the investigation is ongoing, officials are urging witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and provide their statements. Additional charges may be filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
