In a strong statement, Russia's ambassador to London, Andrei Klein, cautioned the United Kingdom against entering into confrontation with Moscow. Klein's comments came in response to recent calls by the UK army chief for national mobilization in preparation for a potential war with Russia.

Speaking on Saturday after attending a ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the siege of Leningrad, Klein refuted the claims that Russia had given any reason for such a call. He dismissed the suggestion as a "fizzling attempt" to promote militarization. Instead, Klein urged the UK to focus on avoiding confrontation with Russia, emphasizing the importance of studying historical lessons and highlighting that no nation has ever succeeded in defeating Russia.

Recalling the shared history of the Soviet Union and the allies in defeating Nazi Germany, Klein underscored the need for establishing a renewed system of international relations built on equality, mutual respect, and security interests. He criticized what he referred to as "unseasoned young politicians" who make flippant statements about military reinforcement and war preparations, highlighting their lack of experience in real conflict or an understanding of the Cold War era.

According to Klein, the calls by the British military command were primarily driven by a desire for increased funding for the national defense sector. He characterized such attempts as a means to galvanize public opinion in favor of militarization, suggesting that these maneuvers were motivated by financial considerations.

Klein concluded by urging the UK to withdraw from the spiral of confrontation and focus on establishing a path forward based on peaceful cooperation. He emphasized the importance of an international system that respects security interests while fostering equality and mutual respect.

While tensions between Russia and the West remain high, Klein's statement is a reminder of the significance of historical lessons and the imperative to avoid further escalating tensions. As the possibility of war looms, it is crucial for both sides to prioritize diplomatic solutions and engage in constructive dialogue to establish a more stable and secure world order.
