In a worrisome escalation of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Russia unleashed a barrage of missiles targeting multiple cities across the country. The attack, which took place on Thursday morning, February 15, resulted in widespread damage and casualties.

Explosions were reported in various regions including Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Lviv, and Poltava. The capital city of Kyiv was put on high alert as an air raid siren woke up residents shortly before 5 a.m. Fortunately, the Ukrainian Air Force swiftly responded to the threat, and according to reports, "anti-aircraft defense destroyed all enemy missiles" aimed at Kyiv.

The Ukrainian military authorities disclosed that the missile attack was conducted by several Tu-95MS strategic bombers that had taken off from the Olenya airfield in Russia's far north. The alarming development prompted a prompt response from the Ukrainian Air Force, leading to the eventual cessation of the missile threat.

While the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, the governor of the eastern Zaporizhzhia region reported that one person was injured and an unspecified "infrastructure object" was hit. Moreover, civilian facilities in the Khmelnytskyi region were also reported to have incurred damage.

Further damage to civil infrastructure was reported in the Dnipropetrovsk region, as the Russian Federation targeted specific locations. Additionally, a fire broke out in warehouses within the Mirgorodsky district of the Poltava region, exacerbating the already dire situation.

The city of Lviv in western Ukraine was not spared from the attack. The mayor reported an explosion and strike, resulting in shattered windows along the streets due to the powerful blast wave. While the extent of the damage in Lviv is yet to be fully assessed, the impact of the missile attack has been keenly felt across multiple cities.

This latest act of aggression by Russia has further exacerbated the tensions between the two countries, which have been locked in a protracted conflict for several years. The international community continues to closely monitor the situation, urging diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict and restore peace to the region.

As the situation unfolds, Ukraine remains resilient in the face of these brazen attacks. The government and military authorities are working tirelessly to assess the damages, provide assistance to affected areas, and ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
