RADFORD, Va. - Radford University has unveiled a new program known as the Radford Tuition Promise, which aims to provide free tuition to a wide range of Virginia students. In an announcement made on Wednesday, the university stated that the initiative would cover all tuition costs for in-person undergraduate students across all Radford University locations.

President Bret Danilowicz emphasized the university's commitment to prioritizing students and removing barriers to higher education. He expressed his belief that the Radford Tuition Promise has the potential to benefit over half of the university's current students who file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), as well as numerous prospective students. By offering free tuition, Radford University aims to assist families and students with significant financial need, as well as those from middle-class households throughout Virginia.

Danilowicz noted that the Radford Tuition Promise would be available to Virginia residents whose families possess an adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less. He stated that the program is an effort to provide an affordable pathway to education within the Commonwealth. By doing so, Radford University aims to ensure better accessibility to a four-year degree, thereby accelerating students' path towards their desired careers.

Prospective students who wish to be eligible for the Radford Tuition Promise must apply and be admitted for the fall 2024 term at any of the university's campus locations. Notably, there is no application fee. Additionally, students need to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, which will be available starting December 2024. To qualify for the program, their Student Aid Index as determined by the FAFSA must be less than $15,000.

President Danilowicz credited the additional state aid received by Radford University, along with other budget adjustments, for making the Tuition Promise possible. He expressed his confidence that the program would significantly enhance the university's value proposition and make a lasting difference in the lives of students and their families.

The Radford Tuition Promise demonstrates Radford University's commitment to affordable and high-quality education, offering Virginia's students a remarkable opportunity to pursue their academic goals without the burden of tuition expenses. As the fall 2024 application period approaches, prospective students eagerly anticipate the chance to avail themselves of this transformative initiative.
