In an interview with representatives of five Arabic-language television networks, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi expressed his views on the ongoing war between the Israeli regime and the Gaza Strip. President Raeisi noted that Israel has fallen short of achieving its goals of occupying Gaza and eliminating the resistance.
President Raeisi emphasized that the actions of the Israeli regime demonstrate its desperation in the face of the Palestinian resistance. He described the Israeli regime's response to the recent operation by the territory's resistance groups, called al-Aqsa Storm, as a sign that they are growing impatient with the Israeli regime's continuous oppression.
Operation al-Aqsa Storm, initiated by Palestinian resistance groups, resulted in the killing of around 1,200 Israeli settlers and military forces, with hundreds more being held captive. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has previously stated that Israel was "knocked out" during this operation.
President Raeisi praised the operation as a legitimate defense of the Palestinians' rights and highlighted their inherent right to self-defense. He condemned the Israeli regime's killing of more than 14,500 Palestinians during the war, emphasizing that the killing of women and children does not equate to victory.
The president also noted that the massacre of innocent civilians has ignited a surge of anti-Zionist sentiment worldwide, further fueling the resolve of the Palestinian resistance.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during his visit to Beirut, warned against the failure to extend the four-day truce agreement between the Israeli regime and Hamas. He emphasized that if the truce does not continue, it could lead to an expansion of the war and the opening of new fronts, involving Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.
Throughout the course of the war, the Israeli regime has launched sporadic attacks on southern Lebanon, leading to clashes between the regime and the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement.
The comments made by President Raeisi and Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian highlight Iran's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its condemnation of the Israeli regime's actions in Gaza. As the conflict continues, the international community remains concerned about the escalating violence and the potential for a wider regional confrontation.
