President Biden's approval rating has plummeted to an all-time low, according to the latest Wall Street Journal poll. The survey also reveals that in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup for the 2024 presidential election, Biden trails former President Donald Trump.

The poll indicates that Trump leads Biden 47% to 43% in a hypothetical ballot between only the two candidates. However, when five independent candidates are included, Biden trails with 37% to Trump's 31%.

The decline in President Biden's numbers comes as voters express dissatisfaction with his policies. Only 23% of respondents believe that Biden's policies have personally helped them, while a significant 53% claim to have been hurt by his policy decisions.

In contrast, about half of the respondents believe they were financially better off under Trump's policies when he was in office. Only 37% feel that they were harmed by his policy choices.

The overall job performance of President Biden also received poor marks, with only 37% of survey respondents approving of his performance, which is the lowest recorded in the Wall Street Journal poll. Additionally, a staggering 61% of respondents view Biden's overall image unfavorably, a record high for the poll.

Trump outperformed Biden on various issues according to the survey. A majority of respondents believe that Trump was better suited to handle the economy, inflation, border security, crime, and the Israel-Hamas conflict. Biden only scored higher than Trump on abortion and setting a better tone in politics.

Trump's Senior Advisor, Jason Miller, criticized President Biden, stating, "Americans were better off financially under President Trump. Now, under Crooked Joe Biden, we have runaway inflation, a porous southern border, crime in our streets, and chaos around the globe."

Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio, who conducted the survey with Democrat Michael Bocian, highlighted Trump's advantage in policy and performance. However, Bocian suggested that Biden may be struggling with traditionally Democratic-leaning groups, including young Latino and Black Americans.

Conducted between November 29 and December 4, the Wall Street Journal survey polled 1,500 registered voters, with a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points.

This survey aligns with other national polls over the past two months, indicating Trump's lead over Biden in hypothetical general election matchups for 2024. Biden had previously held an advantage over Trump, but the tide turned starting in October, with Trump gaining an edge.

Biden's approval rating has been steadily sinking since August 2021, primarily due to criticisms of his handling of the U.S. exit from Afghanistan, a surge in COVID-19 cases, inflation concerns, and the influx of migrants at the southern border.

Compared to previous two-term presidents at this point in their presidencies, Biden's approval ratings are significantly lower, mirroring those of his predecessor, Donald Trump.

While these polls may be discouraging for the Biden campaign and their allies, they point to the unpredictability of early predictions. They draw attention to former President Barack Obama's successful re-election in 2012, despite unfavorable polling a year earlier.

As the 2024 campaign continues to unfold, these poll results will undoubtedly shape the strategies of both the Biden and Trump camps.
