President Joe Biden is facing backlash from conservatives and even some progressives over his decision to launch missile strikes in Yemen without congressional approval, despite his previous condemnation of then-President Donald Trump's actions in Iran. The Biden administration's move to bomb Iran-backed Houthi rebels in response to their attacks on ships in the Red Sea has sparked outrage and accusations of hypocrisy.

Conservatives have wasted no time in pointing out President Biden's past statements on social media, where he criticized Trump for bombing Iran without seeking congressional consent. Back in January 2020, Biden wrote, "Let's be clear: Donald Trump does not have the authority to take us into war with Iran without Congressional approval." He further emphasized, "A president should never take this nation to war without the informed consent of the American people." In February 2020, Biden vowed, "As President, I will use military power responsibly and as a last resort. We will not go back to forever wars in the Middle East," while using the hashtag "#DemDebate."

However, the recent missile strikes on Yemen by the Biden administration have drawn criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. Conservative commentator Benny Johnson remarked on social media, "It's (D)ifferent when Biden does it." Representative Anna Paulina Luna from Florida, echoing the sentiment, wrote, "This aged well." Washington Free Beacon reporter Joe Simonson sarcastically commented, ":) when you're a Democrat they let you do it." Combat veteran and author Sean Parnell simply wrote, "Welp..."

Many conservatives also highlighted the fact that the Biden administration lifted the terrorist designation for the Houthis in Yemen just weeks after taking office. Omri Ceren, a national security adviser to Senator Ted Cruz, alleged that the administration deceived the public and reporters about their decision, stating, "They knew they were doing bad things for bad reasons so they lied to the public and reporters about their decision."

Interestingly, some Democrats also voiced their disapproval of President Biden's actions. Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib and progressive activist Nina Turner criticized Biden for carrying out airstrikes in Yemen without obtaining congressional approval. Tlaib emphasized that the president's actions violated Article I of the Constitution and added, "The American people are tired of endless war."

The Biden administration, however, defended the strikes, stating that they were a direct response to Houthi attacks against international maritime vessels in the Red Sea, including the use of anti-ship ballistic missiles. President Biden asserted that these attacks endangered U.S. personnel and threatened freedom of navigation. The president stated, "These targeted strikes are a clear message that the United States and our partners will not tolerate attacks on our personnel or allow hostile actors to imperil freedom of navigation."

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment but has yet to receive a response.

Criticism of President Biden's actions in Yemen highlights the challenges he faces in navigating military interventions and the complexities of international relations. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how these strikes will impact Biden's foreign policy approach and his standing among both conservatives and progressives.
