Suspect Shot and Killed by Portland Police in Downtown Apartment Incident
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Portland police responded to a call about shots fired inside a luxury apartment located at the Portland Astoria on 140 SW Columbia St. Upon arrival, officers ordered some residents to shelter in place while evacuating others during the cold night.
The police have not released any details regarding the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. The incident occurred in close proximity to Tom McCall Waterfront Park, causing concern among the community.
At 4:44 a.m., the shelter-in-place order was lifted by the police, revealing that an officer had fatally shot the suspect. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries in connection with the incident.
Although many residents were allowed to stay in their units, some were evacuated, and it is still unclear whether eighth-floor residents will be able to access their apartments.
