OAKLAND, Calif. - A dramatic police chase unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning as officers pursued two suspects in a stolen car from American Canyon to Oakland. Thanks to the combined efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, two individuals have been taken into custody.

The suspects have been identified as 28-year-old Josue Valdez Amezcua and 24-year-old Hector Garcia Hernandez, both of Oakland. The incident began around 2:30 a.m. when a vigilant patrol officer observed the pair acting suspiciously near the parking lot of Fairfield Inn and Suites in American Canyon.

Law enforcement officials quickly determined that the suspects had fled the scene in a stolen white Chevy truck, which had been reported stolen in Alameda. The chase intensified as the suspects made desperate attempts to elude the pursuing officers, driving onto Interstate Highway 80.

In an apparent effort to obstruct their pursuers, the suspects began discarding numerous construction tools from the windows of the stolen truck. The situation escalated further when the California Highway Patrol joined forces with local police.

To aid in the pursuit, helicopters and drones were deployed above, closely monitoring the suspects' movements. Ultimately, the chase concluded when the suspects barricaded themselves in the backyard of a residence located at 62nd Avenue and International Boulevard in Oakland.

Law enforcement personnel quickly established a significant presence in the area, surrounding the property. By 7 a.m., both suspects were apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.

Upon their arrest, officers discovered that Amezcua and Hernandez were not only in possession of the stolen truck but were also found to be carrying a 9mm handgun, which had been reported stolen in Sacramento.

The suspects have been transported back to Napa County and have been booked on multiple charges, including suspicion of possessing a deadly weapon, stolen vehicle and stolen property. Additionally, they face charges related to the unlawful possession of a firearm.

The collaborative efforts of the American Canyon Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, and other participating agencies ensured the successful apprehension of the suspects involved in this high-speed chase. The incident serves as a reminder of the dedication and commitment of law enforcement to maintain public safety and bring individuals involved in criminal activities to justice.
