Pedestrian Injured in Crash Near Somerset Salon Under Investigation

Somerset, Massachusetts - Somerset police are currently investigating a pedestrian crash that occurred near a salon in the town, which resulted in a 50-year-old woman sustaining injuries. The incident took place at approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday in the vicinity of 1176 County St., the location of Mr. Carl's Hair & Nail Design.
According to Police Chief Todd Costa, investigations have revealed that a Dodge Caravan struck the pedestrian, who is a resident of Somerset, while she was crossing County Street, a part of Route 138. The precise circumstances leading up to the collision are still being examined.
Local firefighters from Somerset promptly arrived at the scene and provided initial medical assistance to the injured woman. Subsequently, she was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The current condition of the victim has not been disclosed by the Somerset police.
The driver of the minivan, an 84-year-old Fall River man, remained at the crash site and has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation. There were no reported injuries by the driver following the incident. At this time, police have not announced whether any charges or citations will be filed against the driver.
The Somerset Police Department is actively investigating the crash, including the participation of both the Patrol Unit and the Detective Division. Authorities are working to determine the factors that contributed to the unfortunate incident.
