In a tragic incident, the parents of a 2-year-old boy who was shot and killed on Monday in Northern Kentucky have been taken into custody. According to court records, Selena Farrell, the mother of the child, was apprehended for a probation violation. The Hamilton County Coroner's office confirmed the child's identity as Khalil Adams.
The incident took place on Warren Street near Skyline Apartments around 12:45 p.m. when Covington police received a report of a child being shot. Sadly, Khalil's life was cut short due to the tragic event. However, it is important to note that the Commonwealth's Attorney, Rob Sanders, has clarified that Farrell is not believed to be the shooter.
Following the incident, Farrell fled the scene before the arrival of the police and never presented herself at the hospital. Authorities suspect that she fled because she had an outstanding warrant for violating probation. Moreover, Tashaun Adams, Khalil's father, was arrested on Thursday for aiding Farrell in hiding at a hotel. He now faces charges of hindering prosecution, as per Boone County jail records.
On Tuesday, Khalil's grandmother, who is also Farrell's mother, expressed her grief and shared fond memories of her beloved grandson. She described Khalil as an amazing child with beautiful brown eyes and dark brown hair. He was full of joy, loved his siblings, and cherished his family and everyone he encountered.
At this point, the Covington police have not disclosed the specific details surrounding Khalil's shooting. Additionally, there is no information regarding any charges in connection to his tragic death.
As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of young Khalil Adams, a life cut short too soon. Authorities will work diligently to uncover the truth behind this heartbreaking incident and seek justice for the family affected by this tragedy.
