In the early hours of Monday morning, the CTA Orange Line service experienced a minor derailment, resulting in a temporary suspension of service on the Southwest Side. However, Orange Line trains traveling to and from Midway Airport are now back on the move after the issue was swiftly addressed.

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. near the 35th and Archer station on the Orange Line, which connects the Loop and Midway Airport. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the approximately 20 passengers on board during the derailment, which was described as "comparatively minor" by a spokesperson from the agency.

Following the incident, transportation authorities made efforts to ensure the safety of passengers and minimize disruption to their journeys. Train services were initially divided into two sections: between Midway and 35th and Archer, and between the Loop and Ashland. To provide convenient transportation options through the affected area, free shuttle buses were made available as connecting services.

However, as of approximately 2 p.m., normal service has resumed on the Orange Line, albeit with some "residual delays." The CTA issued a service alert to inform commuters about the restoration of service.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of regular maintenance and safety measures to ensure hassle-free transportation for commuters. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the derailment to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Passengers who rely on the Orange Line for their daily commute can now breathe a sigh of relief as service returns to normal, thanks to the swift actions taken by transportation officials.
