TULSA, Okla. - A tragic incident unfolded at Woodland Hills Mall on Tuesday as Tulsa Police reported the shooting death of a 21-year-old individual identified as Kierstan "KJ" Love. The suspect remains at large as authorities conduct an ongoing investigation into the incident, treating it as a homicide.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., reports of gunshots prompted a swift response from several Tulsa Police officers who rushed to the scene at Woodland Hills Mall. Eyewitnesses who were present in the mall at the time recalled being asked to seek cover inside stores, with some establishments locking their doors to ensure the safety of both staff and customers.

Love, critically injured in the shooting, was immediately transported to the hospital. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Love tragically succumbed to their injuries at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Tulsa Police Lieutenant Brandon Watkins.

Preliminary information from the police indicates that a confrontation occurred between two individuals just outside the mall, escalating into a physical altercation. At some point during the altercation, the suspect drew a firearm and shot Love. Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot through the mall's parking lot.

TPD Captain Richard Meulenberg stated, "So far, this does not appear to have been an 'Active Shooter.' It is believed that the suspect and victim had a confrontation and shots were fired. All information at this time indicates that the suspect has left the mall, but we are still ensuring the safety of the public by checking the mall."

While detectives gather information at the Woodland Hills Mall, the search for the suspect continues. Tulsa Police are urging anyone with relevant information or who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
