In a tragic incident, one person was killed and six others were injured in a shooting that occurred outside a bar in Denver's Park Hill neighborhood. The Denver Police have confirmed the details of the incident, which took place in the early hours of the morning.
According to reports, five men and one woman were among the injured individuals. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed by the police department at this time.
The Denver Police Department stated in a social media post that there was evidence of multiple guns being fired during the incident. Doug Schepman, spokesperson for the department, told CBS News Colorado that it is unclear whether any suspects are at large or if the gunfire came solely from those who were injured.
The shooting took place shortly after 3 a.m. in the vicinity of the intersection of East 33rd Avenue and Hudson Street. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, causing panic in the area.
A CBS News Colorado staffer on the scene was informed by an officer that the incident appears to have occurred outside a bar associated with the "Hell's Lovers" organization. Hell's Lovers is described as a "one percenter" group that originated in Chicago and has chapters in eight states. "One percenters" are motorcycle gangs that do not adhere to laws, according to the National Library of Medicine's definition.
It is worth noting that in January 2012, nineteen members of the "Hell's Lovers" Denver chapter were arrested on federal firearms and drug charges.
The Denver Police are currently investigating the shooting to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify any potential suspects. As more information becomes available, authorities will continue to provide updates to the public.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victims and their families affected by this senseless act of violence.
