In a shocking display of disrespect, two Nevada teens accused of killing a former police chief, Andreas Probst, laughed and flipped off the victim's family during a court hearing this week. The incident took place before the start of the hearing in Las Vegas on Tuesday, leaving the widow and daughter of the late police chief stunned and appalled.
According to the widow, Crystal Probst, Jesus Ayala, 18, and Jzamir Keys, 16, laughed at them and made obscene gestures. Crystal Probst expressed her disappointment, remarking that their actions only served to tarnish their own reputation. Taylor Probst, the victim's daughter, also condemned the behavior of the accused, calling them out for their lack of respect towards the court proceedings.
Ayala and Keys are facing a slew of charges related to the fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of Andreas Probst, aged 66, in August. The charges against them include murder, attempted murder, failing to stop at the scene of a crash, battery, residential burglary, grand larceny of a vehicle, and possession of a stolen vehicle. Both individuals have pleaded not guilty and are set to face trial in mid-September.
Authorities have reported that the teens were involved in a crime spree during which they stole several vehicles, documenting their actions on video. One of the videos reportedly shows the moment when Probst was intentionally struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle.
The appalling conduct of Ayala and Keys in court has only added to the anguish of the victim's family. Taylor Probst expressed her disbelief, questioning how the accused could act so entitled and disrespectful after taking a man's life.
Undeterred by their behavior, the widow and daughter of Andreas Probst are steadfast in their determination to attend the court appearances and ensure justice is served. They have made it clear that they will not be intimidated by the actions of the accused.
As the trial approaches, the community awaits the outcome of this tragic case, hoping that justice will be served for the late Andreas Probst and his grieving family.
