National Grid Works Towards Restoring Power in North Country After Wind Storm

WATERTOWN, New York - National Grid is working diligently to restore power to customers in the north country following a powerful wind storm that caused widespread outages. The company estimates that everyone will have electricity restored by 11:30 p.m., two days after the storm struck.
As of 6 p.m. Thursday, approximately 5,000 customers were still without power in the affected areas. Among these, 1,700 customers were in St. Lawrence County, with only 4 remaining in Lewis County. These figures reflect a notable improvement from the count at noon on Thursday, which had tallied 7,500 customers without power in Jefferson County, 4,500 in St. Lawrence County, and 600 in Lewis County.
National Grid reported that as of midday Thursday, they had successfully restored service to 182,800 of the total 202,000 customers affected by the windstorm in upstate New York. Within the northern region of the state, 60,400 customers out of the 76,100 initially impacted have had their power restored.
The company continues to work tirelessly to repair downed power lines and restore electricity to those still affected. National Grid has been committed to prioritizing the safety and well-being of their customers throughout this challenging situation.
