Multiple Injuries Reported in Car and School Bus Collision on Highway 14

HILLSDALE TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KTTC) - Four individuals, including a child, were transported to the hospital on Wednesday morning following a collision between a car and a school bus on Highway 14. The incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m., resulting in a temporary closure of Highway 14 between Winona and Stockton.
According to authorities, the school bus was traveling westbound, while a Buick Lucerne was heading eastbound when the two vehicles collided. The driver of the Buick, identified as 62-year-old Robin Thelen from Winona, sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately taken to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center for treatment.
The school bus driver, 64-year-old Theresa Fedie of Winona, along with a passenger, 46-year-old Sara Fennert, also from Winona, and a 10-year-old child from Goodview, were transported to the hospital as well. Thankfully, their injuries were reported to be non-life threatening, according to law enforcement.
Following the accident, Highway 14 was closed for a period of time as emergency responders attended to the scene and investigators carried out their examinations. However, the highway was reopened around 10 a.m., enabling the resumption of normal traffic flow.
The Minnesota State Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the collision, and no further details have been released at this time. The safety of our roads remains a priority, and authorities are urging all motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to prevent such unfortunate accidents.
