The accused, Hailey Clifton-Carmack, was apprehended in Texas on Friday, January 5 by the Garden Ridge Police Department.

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department, Clifton-Carmack, who is a former Laquey High School teacher, has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with the underage student. The Garden Ridge Police Department confirmed her arrest on their Facebook page, stating that she faced five child sexual abuse charges, including statutory rape and child molestation.

The authorities became aware of the illicit relationship when the victim showed a fellow student pictures of his scratched back. Concerned by this evidence, the witness promptly reported the matter to a school resource officer on December 7. Additionally, the witness claimed to have overheard a phone conversation in which Clifton-Carmack allegedly said, "I'm out of state but I can send you money, baby."

Prior to Clifton-Carmack's arrest, the school's superintendent had previously cautioned her about being "too close with students." In light of the allegations, police obtained a search warrant for her phone and discovered multiple messages exchanged between her and the victim.

Adding to the unsettling revelations, another witness stated that the victim's father had been informed by Clifton-Carmack about her involvement with his son. Shockingly, the father allegedly chose not to intervene, believing his efforts would be futile and that the relationship would continue. As a result, he has also been taken into custody on a charge of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Furthermore, it has been reported that the accused teacher and the underage student enlisted the help of other students to keep a lookout while engaging in their inappropriate relationship on school grounds.

The arrest of Hailey Clifton-Carmack has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward in order to ensure justice is served.

The alleged incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining appropriate boundaries between educators and students, as well as the need for swift action in cases of suspected child abuse and exploitation.
