In a tragic incident, a missile strike on a mail depot in the eastern city of Kharkiv, Ukraine, has claimed the lives of six people and left 17 others injured. The attack took place late on Saturday and is believed to have been carried out by a Russian S-300 rocket, according to Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov.

The victims of the devastating attack were all employees of Nova Poshta, a private Ukrainian postal and courier service. The missile strike occurred shortly after the air raid siren sounded, offering no time for those inside the depot to seek shelter. In response to the tragedy, Nova Poshta has declared Sunday as a day of mourning for the company.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the strike, describing it as an attack on an "ordinary civilian object." He emphasized the need to respond to Russian terror with results on the front line and called for strengthened global unity to combat such acts of terrorism. Zelenskyy firmly stated that Russia will not achieve anything through terror and murder, emphasizing that all terrorists must be held accountable for their actions.

In a separate incident, three people were wounded in Russian shelling on the city of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region. Moreover, Ukrainian officials reported a record number of aerial bombs being used by the Russian military in the Kherson region over the past 24 hours. According to Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian military's Operational Command South, 36 missiles were recorded in the area, with multiple strikes hitting several villages.

The Institute for the Study of War released a report highlighting a potential diversification of missile types, guided bombs, and drones used by Russian forces in strikes on Ukraine. This change in tactics could be an attempt to identify gaps in Ukraine's air defenses ahead of further winter strikes, speculates the Washington-based think tank.

Russian shelling in the Donetsk region also claimed the lives of two individuals, according to Ukrainian officials. A 58-year-old man in the village of Kalinovka and a 61-year-old man in the town of Vasiukovka were fatally hit. The Ukrainian prosecutor's office confirmed the deaths.

In a separate incident, a 71-year-old man fishing at a local reservoir in the Nikopol military district was reportedly targeted and killed by Russian artillery fire. The victim was found with a fishing rod in his hand, further fueling accusations of deliberate targeting by Russian forces.

Meanwhile, officials appointed by Moscow claimed to have intercepted three Ukrainian missiles aimed at Russian-occupied Crimea. Vladimir Saldo, the Kremlin-installed leader of the Russian-occupied portion of Ukraine's Kherson region, stated that all three missiles had been successfully shot down.

As tension continues to escalate in the region, Ukraine is facing an alarming increase in bombings and attacks. The Ukrainian government and international community must remain vigilant and work together to ensure the safety and security of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of this ongoing conflict.
