Massive Street Takeover Attempt in Shelton Draws Hundreds of Vehicles from Multiple States

In a dramatic turn of events, Shelton, Connecticut became the focal point of a planned street takeover as hundreds of vehicles from various states descended upon the city over the weekend. The attempted takeover, which caught the attention of law enforcement agencies across the region, was foiled by proactive measures taken by the police.
The Shelton Police Department was tipped off about the street takeover planned on Research Drive for Saturday. In response, officers from neighboring departments including Derby, Milford, Orange, and Trumbull, Connecticut State Police troopers, as well as federal officials, promptly mobilized along the Bridgeport Avenue corridor. Additional officers were also stationed on Research Drive itself.
Approximately 500 vehicles from different states, including New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Vermont, arrived in Shelton around 8 p.m., ready to participate in the illegal event. However, upon reaching the business parking lots on Research Drive, they were denied entry. Undeterred, the group then resorted to coordinating alternative parking lots for their gathering via social media.
Efficient police response allowed law enforcement to disperse the vehicles at the alternative parking lots before they could form a cohesive group. Subsequently, the fleet of vehicles left Shelton and journeyed to nearby towns such as Derby, North Haven, and Orange, only to eventually return to Shelton.
In a synchronized effort, officers from each involved department were quick to follow the vehicles back to their respective towns, ensuring order was maintained and preventing the street takeover from gaining traction. As a result, several drivers were cited for infractions and a number of vehicles were towed. However, no arrests were made in Shelton during the incident.
