The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) police have revealed that the chaos unfolded around 8 a.m., commencing with a single collision that escalated into a chain-reaction crash involving 23 vehicles on the westbound span of the bridge. The clearance process for this extensive crash took an arduous six hours.

According to MDTA police, their investigation indicates that approximately 20 more vehicles were involved in subsequent crashes. To shed light on the incident, the police have requested public assistance in locating a blue 2018 Honda Civic. This vehicle, believed to have been speeding and driving erratically, was spotted on westbound U.S. Route 50 near the Bay Bridge between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.
