The National Weather Service has issued a warning for Massachusetts as a significant snowstorm is set to blanket the state on Tuesday. According to the latest predictions from the Norton office of the National Weather Service, a considerable portion of the state, including Springfield, Worcester, Fitchburg, and Lawrence, can expect to receive between 8 and 12 inches of snow.
The snowfall is expected to commence late on Monday night and cover the entire state, as indicated by the National Weather Service graphics released on Saturday afternoon. The forecast highlights that Central, south Western, and north Eastern Massachusetts will be particularly affected by the snowfall, with significant accumulations predicted.
Boston, Plymouth, and New Bedford are also expected to receive a considerable amount of snow, with estimates ranging from 4 to 6 inches. In the southeastern coast, Hyannis can expect to receive between 2 and 3 inches, while Provincetown may see 1 to 2 inches of snowfall.
However, despite the varying amounts of snow predicted for different regions, the entire state should remain cautious, as the National Weather Service previously warned of a possible storm surge during high tide on Tuesday. Specifically, a surge of 1 to 2 feet is anticipated, especially impacting areas along the coast.
Residents and authorities are urged to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the storm's progression and provide timely updates as necessary.
As Massachusetts braces for this winter storm, it is advised that individuals stay indoors, travel only if essential, and exercise caution while commuting. By being prepared and staying informed, residents can minimize the impact of the snowfall and potential storm surge.
