### Northerners May Glimpse Aurora Despite Clouds

Residents in six states still have a chance to witness the Northern Lights on Monday night, although poor weather might impede visibility. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this follows a more remarkable display seen on Sunday night.

While Sunday was the peak viewing night for the aurora borealis, residents near the Canadian border, from Washington state to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, might catch a glimpse of the celestial phenomena low on the horizon. Overcast skies and rain, however, could obscure the view in some areas.

NOAA officials have identified the best locations for sighting the Northern Lights on Monday night: Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. Bryan Brasher from NOAA emphasized that aurora visibility can be unpredictable, sometimes appearing and disappearing within minutes, primarily influenced by changes in solar wind and Earth's magnetosphere. He also mentioned the slim possibility of visibility extending further south if geomagnetic activity spikes.

The aurora is expected to continue into Tuesday, but experts caution that viewing opportunities will diminish across most of the contiguous United States. Alaska remains a notable exception, with higher chances of observing the spectacle.

Although Monday night's aurora won't be as intense as Sunday's, many Americans still have an opportunity to witness this breathtaking natural event. Those eager to see the Northern Lights are advised to find locations away from city lights and to check their local weather for the best viewing chances.
