Manhattan, New York - Marvel actor Jonathan Majors is currently facing domestic violence charges in a highly publicized trial that could have significant repercussions on his promising career. Prosecutors opened the case by portraying Majors as a controlling and violent boyfriend who engaged in psychological abuse against his ex-girlfriend, British dancer Grace Jabbari.

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Michael Perez alleged that Majors exhibited a "cruel and manipulative pattern of psychological abuse" throughout their relationship, which culminated in a violent incident on March 25 in Chinatown. The dispute erupted in the back of a livery car after Jabbari discovered a text from another woman on Majors' phone. Prosecutors claim that Majors assaulted Jabbari, breaking her finger, twisting her arm, and striking her in the ear, causing it to bleed.

The ongoing trial holds significant implications for Majors' career as a Yale-educated actor who has showcased his talent in projects like "Creed 3" and Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." The outcome of the jury trial will determine the impact on his future projects.

According to prosecutors, Majors and Jabbari met on the set of "Ant-Man," and their relationship developed quickly. They discussed future plans, including having children and getting married. However, the prosecutor stated that Majors became increasingly controlling, snapping at Jabbari and resorting to manipulative tactics. He even threatened suicide to exert control over her.

Prosecutors also noted instances of Majors displaying anger and destructiveness during arguments, shouting, throwing household items, and breaking them. His behavior escalated when Jabbari went to a pub with a friend, leading to confrontations and threats of ending the relationship.

During the trial's opening arguments, Majors' defense lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, characterized Jabbari as a vengeful ex-girlfriend, driven by anger over infidelity and the end of the relationship. Chaudhry described Majors as a devoted Christian, father, poet, and actor. She claimed that the accusations had tarnished his reputation and threatened his potential Oscar nomination for his work in "Magazine Dreams," which was highly regarded at the Sundance Film Festival.

Chaudhry portrayed Jabbari as the aggressor in the backseat altercation, alleging that she scratched Majors' face, tore his jacket, and ripped two buttons from his coat. The defense lawyer also highlighted Jabbari's subsequent activities after the argument, including hooking up with three strangers and indulging in luxury purchases using Majors' credit card.

On the night of the incident, Majors called the authorities for assistance finding Jabbari. When they located her, she was injured and found partially undressed in Majors' Chelsea apartment closet. Chaudhry claimed that the injuries resulted from a drunken fall, not Majors' alleged attack.

As the trial progresses, testimonies from witnesses, including the livery car driver, are anticipated. The jury will ultimately decide the outcome of the case, which has attracted significant media attention.
