Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Fatal Shooting at Ocala Mall

Authorities in Ocala, Florida, have launched a manhunt for Albert J. Shell Jr., who is wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at the Paddock Mall. The Ocala Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Shell on charges of premeditated first-degree murder and attempted premeditated first-degree murder.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon around 3:40 p.m. local time, when gunfire erupted in a common area of the mall. The victim, identified as 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron, was fatally shot, while a woman suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Several other individuals at the mall also sustained injuries during the incident, including one person with chest pain and another with a broken arm.
Ocala Police Chief Mike Balken revealed that the suspect, Shell, fled the scene on foot, leaving behind the firearm used in the shooting. In a news briefing, Chief Balken called on the public's assistance in locating Shell and announced a $5,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest.
Authorities are particularly interested in recovering a red hat that was reportedly taken from the crime scene. The hat may contain crucial DNA evidence related to the incident. Ocala police have urged anyone in possession of the hat to come forward immediately and return it. If the hat is not returned promptly, authorities have warned that they will release a picture of the person who took it and that this individual will face a felony charge of tampering with evidence.
