Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Route 1 in Wrentham, Identified as Patrick Royster
Wrentham, Massachusetts - In a tragic incident on Tuesday evening, a man was struck and killed by a vehicle on Route 1 in Wrentham. The victim has been identified as Patrick Royster, a 42-year-old resident of Taunton, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. in the vicinity of 545 Washington St., near the Harold Clark Town Forest and less than a half-mile away from Luciano's Restaurant, as stated by Police Chief Bill McGrath.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Royster was walking on the northbound side of Route 1 in the area of Thurston Street when he was first hit by a vehicle. Tragically, when he became incapacitated on the roadway, another vehicle struck him. Two vehicles involved in the incident stopped at the scene and remained there, along with other witnesses, as reported by McGrath.
Eyewitness Eileen Elliott, an individual who works in the vicinity where the crash occurred, expressed her surprise at seeing someone walking on that side of the highway. She recalled, "It just didn't make sense to me." Shortly after her realization, sirens blared, announcing the tragic event.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident is still ongoing, including whether weather conditions had any impact.
