Chicago, IL - A man involved in a tragic car crash near O'Hare International Airport earlier this month has been denied pre-trial release after it was determined that he was intoxicated at the time of the incident. The crash resulted in the death of his stepdaughter, according to the DuPage County State's Attorney.

The incident occurred on December 17, around 2:15 a.m., in the 12100 block of Irving Park Road, near Chicago's busy airport. Chicago Police Department officers swiftly responded to the scene after receiving reports of the crash.

According to the investigation conducted by the Chicago police, the man, his wife, and their stepdaughter were traveling in their car when the driver lost control, struck a guard rail, and ultimately flipped the vehicle. Tragically, the stepdaughter, identified as Jaylene Escamilla, did not survive the crash.

In a statement released by the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, it was revealed that the man had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.12 approximately two hours after the incident.

State's Attorney Robert Berlin emphasized the importance of responsible decision-making and the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. "As I have said many times before, if you have been drinking, do not get behind the wheel of a car," Berlin stated. Assistant State's Attorney Anthony Raimondi was recognized for his work in securing charges against the defendant. The man has been denied pre-trial release pending further legal proceedings.
