In a tragic incident that unfolded last week in Coon Rapids, three individuals lost their lives, leading to the arrest and charging of a 37-year-old man. Prosecutors have charged Alonzo Pierre Mingo with three counts of second-degree murder on Monday.

The incident was initially reported when dispatchers received an open-line call around 12:25 p.m. on Friday. Although the caller did not speak, sounds of a disturbance could be heard. In response, multiple law enforcement agencies were dispatched to a residence near Springbrook Drive and 94th Avenue Northwest. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless bodies of 42-year-old Shannon Patricia Jungwirth, her 39-year-old husband Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, and her 20-year-old son Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth.

During the investigation, law enforcement discovered a pole camera across the street from the residence and several surveillance cameras inside the house. Video footage from the pole camera revealed that a blue Nissan Altima parked in front of the home at approximately 12:20 p.m. Three individuals, two of whom were dressed as UPS delivery drivers, were seen entering the residence, with one carrying a cardboard box. They left seven minutes later.

Autopsy results indicated that all three victims had been shot in the head. The surveillance cameras inside the residence captured the moment the woman was shot at point-blank range in a bedroom. The distressing footage showed the two young children, both under the age of 5, entering the room and witnessing the aftermath of the violence. The older child eventually guided the younger child out of the room.

The investigation led authorities to Mingo, who was identified as the registered owner of the Nissan Altima seen in the video footage. He was apprehended along 73rd Avenue near Baker Road Northeast in Fridley at approximately 3:15 p.m. It was reported that Mingo had thrown his cellphone out of the car window during the arrest. Initially denying any involvement or working at UPS, it was later discovered that Mingo had recently worked for the company and a UPS uniform was found in his backpack. Witnesses also confirmed seeing Mingo leaving his home at around 10 a.m. on the day of the incident.

Further evidence against Mingo was revealed in the charging documents, with his fingerprints matching those found on the cardboard box left inside the residence. Additionally, records show that Mingo has prior felony convictions in Illinois, including charges for aggravated battery in a public place, felon in possession of a firearm, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. In 2020, he pleaded guilty to a federal charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm after being apprehended with a handgun in his pocket.

Mingo appeared before the court for the first time on Monday, facing up to 40 years in prison for each murder charge. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office has stated that the investigation is ongoing and has not announced any additional arrests or suspects at this time.
