Man Charged with First-Degree Murder After Fatal Shooting at Local Business

In a shocking incident that took place at a Wheaton-area business, a 49-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder. Michael Freund, residing on the 3200 block of Bromley Lane in Aurora, stands accused of fatally shooting Dexter M. Perkins, as stated in DuPage County court records.

Freund is expected to make an appearance in the first-appearance court this morning, having been arrested at the scene of the shooting on Friday morning. The tragic incident occurred at approximately 8:41 a.m. outside Rosie O'Neill's Irish Pub and Grub located on 0N131 Gary Ave, near Wheaton.

According to the murder charge filed against Freund, he allegedly retrieved a 9mm handgun from his pickup truck and reentered Rosie's. Inside, a verbal and physical dispute ensued between Freund and Perkins. The altercation is said to have continued outside the premises, leading Freund to aim and fire the weapon multiple times at Perkins.
