Man Arrested on Homicide Charge in Connection to Omaha Woman's Death

OMAHA, Neb. - Raymond Evans, 33, has been arrested in Omaha in connection to a death investigation that originated in Lincoln. Evans was taken into custody and booked into Douglas County Corrections on a criminal homicide charge.
The investigation began following the disappearance of 34-year-old Cecilia Perez from Omaha early Tuesday. Perez had not been heard from since Saturday, November 18, prompting concerns from her loved ones.
Deputies from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office made a grim discovery in a remote area outside of Lincoln. Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, they located a deceased body at the intersection of N. 98th Street and Havelock Avenue, a few miles away from the city.
The Omaha Police Homicide Unit took over the case and launched an investigation into the death of Cecilia Perez, following information provided by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office. As a result, Raymond Evans was apprehended and charged in connection to the crime.
Authorities are yet to release any additional information regarding the circumstances of Perez's death or any potential connection between Evans and the victim. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be made available in the coming days.
Evans remains in custody at the Douglas County Corrections facility as he awaits his court appearance.
