Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) has raised concerns about the character of newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), predicting that the nation will eventually witness the true measure of his actions. Cheney made these remarks during an appearance on the "Politics Is Everything" podcast hosted by the University of Virginia.

Cheney recalled her past familiarity with Johnson, emphasizing that they were elected together and had neighboring offices. While Johnson has publicly portrayed himself as a staunch defender of the Constitution, Cheney accused him of failing to uphold this commitment during the aftermath of the 2020 election.

In particular, Cheney scrutinized Johnson's leading role in a legal effort to overturn former President Donald Trump's election loss. She accused him of knowingly acting in a manner he knew to be incorrect, ultimately disregarding the rulings of courts and the requirements of the Constitution.
