Article:
Several visitors at Disneyland were injured when a lamppost on Main Street U.S.A. fell during strong winds and toppled onto a walkway near the theme park's entrance, according to officials from Anaheim Fire. The incident occurred on Monday, November 20, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Disneyland officials reported that the incident was caused by high winds, and a light pole in a flower bed around the Disneyland flagpole was blown over, injuring multiple guests. Emergency personnel from Anaheim Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, and one person with serious injuries was transported to a hospital, while two others were treated at the scene and subsequently released.

Eyewitnesses reported that an elderly woman was struck on the head by the falling lamppost, and she was transported from the scene on a stretcher. Another visitor was seen sitting on a park bench with a bandaged head.

At the time of the incident, a high wind warning was in effect for inland Orange County, including Santa Ana winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph. The lamppost that fell was used for stage lighting during parades and shows along Main Street U.S.A.

Following the incident, Disneyland personnel promptly removed the lamppost, utilizing Main Street U.S.A. vehicles to block off a section of Town Square near the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln opera house, ensuring pedestrian safety. Despite the incident, the park remained open, and visitors were directed to use the west side of Town Square, nearest to Disneyland City Hall.

Disneyland officials stressed that the health and safety of their guests and cast members are of utmost importance, and they are committed to ensuring a safe environment within the park.

The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of high winds and the precautions that need to be taken during such conditions. Visitors are advised to stay informed of weather warnings and follow any instructions or safety measures put in place by park authorities.

As investigations into the incident continue, Disneyland is reviewing its protocols to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
