In a significant development, New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron has ruled that Ivanka Trump, daughter of the former President Donald Trump, must testify in her father's civil fraud trial in New York. The trial, brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), alleges decades of fraud committed by Trump, the Trump Organization, Trump's adult sons, and several executives.

Accusations against the defendants include falsely inflating and deflating the value of their assets to gain tax benefits and better insurance coverage. Trump and his sons have vehemently denied any wrongdoing, branding the case as a "witch hunt."

Ivanka Trump, who was initially a party in the lawsuit, was dismissed from the case by a New York appeals court in June due to the state's statute of limitations. However, Judge Engoron has now ruled that her dismissal does not exempt her from testifying after being subpoenaed by the attorney general's office.

Notably, the trial judge has set a scheduling date of November 1 for Ivanka Trump's testimony, allowing her attorneys time to appeal the decision. Trump and his adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, are also expected to testify later in the trial, proceedings for which began earlier this month.

During the trial, Donald Trump briefly took the stand to defend comments he made to reporters, which the judge found to be in violation of a gag order.

Ivanka Trump's legal team argued that the New York attorney general's office lacks jurisdiction to compel her testimony, highlighting that she is neither a party in the case nor a New York resident. They asserted that she is "beyond the jurisdiction" of the court.

However, Judge Engoron dismissed these arguments, stating that Ivanka Trump has conducted significant business in New York and has maintained ties to the state.

The fraud trial, now in its fourth week, is expected to continue until at least December 22. As the proceedings unfold, further revelations and testimonies are anticipated, shedding light on the allegations of fraud against the Trump family and their organization.
