In a dramatic turn of events, Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal appeared in court on Saturday, making an emotional plea amidst his ongoing fraud trial. Goyal, accused of a Rs 538 crore fraud at Canara Bank, expressed his despair and revealed the challenges he is facing in his personal life.

With tears in his eyes and folded hands, Goyal stated that he has "lost all hope of life" and expressed his preference to "die in jail" rather than continue living in his current condition. He shared the devastating news that his wife, Anita, is in an advanced stage of cancer, adding to the immense emotional turmoil he is experiencing.

Goyal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on September 1 last year in connection with the alleged bank fraud, conveyed his deep longing for his wife and discussed the critical health conditions both he and his family members are facing. The founder mentioned that his wife is bedridden due to her illness, while their only daughter is also unwell.

During the court hearing, Goyal's trembling and emotional state caught the attention of the judge who observed his physical frailty. The judge noted that Goyal required assistance even to stand, highlighting the severity of his health issues. Goyal further disclosed several physical ailments he is currently experiencing, including swollen and painful knees, difficulty in urinating, and passing blood in his urine.

The judge assured Goyal that his health concerns would be considered and addressed in the appropriate manner. It remains to be seen how this emotional plea will impact Goyal's ongoing court case and the decisions made by the judiciary regarding his request for proper medical care while in jail.

The trial and allegations against Goyal have sent shockwaves through the aviation industry. Jet Airways, once a prominent player in the Indian aviation sector, faced significant financial troubles and eventually had to suspend its operations in April 2019.

As Goyal's emotional plea reverberates through the legal system, the court will weigh the allegations against him along with his personal circumstances, seeking to deliver a fair and just outcome in this high-profile case.
