Tragically, the violence has also spilled over into the West Bank, resulting in the loss of Palestinian lives as Israeli settlers, often accompanied by Israeli soldiers, perpetrate land theft, assault, murder, and arson.

Among the recent atrocities committed, the attack on Huwara stands out, overseen by the Israeli army earlier this year. In a disturbing escalation, settlers, with the protection of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), returned to Huwara to set parts of the village ablaze.

One of the most shocking incidents during this period was the aerial massacre at al-Ahli al-Arabi Hospital on October 17. Despite the Jerusalem-based church that operates the hospital claiming it had been warned by the Israeli military to evacuate multiple times, the hospital was hit, resulting in a significant loss of life. Initially, media and government reports attributed the attack to Israel, but subsequently, vague intelligence reports, sourced anonymously, began to suggest that a misfired Palestinian rocket may have caused the explosion.

A new narrative emerged, supported by opaque sourcing, proposing that Hamas or Islamic Jihad rockets caused the explosion and inflated the casualty count. Despite the evidence of Israel's ongoing bombardment of Gaza and the destruction of shelter structures, efforts were made to muddy the waters surrounding the al-Ahli incident.

However, investigations by Al Jazeera, the UK's Channel 4, and the University of London's Forensic Architecture have cast doubt on the Israeli version of events. These investigations have highlighted acoustic evidence and photographic evidence that point towards an Israeli origin for the strike. Unfortunately, a conclusive investigation is hindered by restricted access to the site and munition fragments.

Israel's attempts to obfuscate the truth surrounding atrocities highlight the strategic weakness of the Israeli and Western powers. Instead of addressing the rising discontent in the Middle East and across the globe, they resort to media wars and deception. The international community's readiness to believe Israeli lies can be attributed to Israel's vital role in projecting American power abroad, making it an ally whose propaganda enjoys an unusual level of tolerance.

The inability to hold Israel accountable for its actions has been evident in past atrocities, including the Israeli napalm bombing of the USS Liberty in 1967 and the murder of the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in 2022. Lies about Israeli military rule against Palestinians are absorbed without consequence, perpetuating a cycle of violence and denial.

The current crisis has exposed a contradiction within the American public's opinion, with support for humanitarian relief to both Gaza and Israel. However, there is a growing disillusionment with Israeli actions, particularly among Democratic voters and young Americans who see the military operations as part of the geostrategic lies perpetuated by Western powers.

Israel's aggressive response to Hamas has the potential to escalate the conflict, leading to catastrophic consequences.
