In the continuing battles between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas resistance group, the Israeli military is reportedly planning to end its ground invasion in the Gaza Strip and transition to intensified aerial assaults. This strategic shift marks a new phase in Israel's ongoing conflict against the besieged Palestinian territory.
According to sources cited by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, the regime's military is preparing to enter the third phase of the fighting in Gaza in the coming weeks. This new stage entails the cessation of ground operations, reduction of army forces, demobilization of reserves, increased reliance on airstrikes, and the establishment of a buffer zone along the border between the occupied territories and Gaza.
The report stated that the Israeli military now controls a significant portion of the northern Gaza Strip, although it is encountering significant challenges in advancing further south. This development follows the recent withdrawal of the highly publicized Golani Brigade, one of Israel's elite military units, from Gaza. The Brigade withdrew in order to regroup and reorganize after sustaining substantial losses inflicted by Palestinian resistance fighters.
The Washington Post has highlighted the dangerous and surreal nature of the conflict in Gaza, reporting that Israeli forces face deadly traps set by the resistance fighters. The fighters have employed loudspeakers to broadcast sounds of people weeping or speaking Hebrew, enticing Israeli troops into strategically placed traps.
The war on Gaza began on October 7, when Israel launched its brutal offensive in response to a historic operation carried out by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group. The operation was launched in retaliation against Israel's intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people. Despite 79 days of intense conflict, Israel has thus far been unsuccessful in achieving its objectives, which include the elimination of Hamas and the recovery of Israeli captives in Gaza.
The toll of the ongoing conflict on the Palestinian people has been devastating. Thousands are missing and presumed dead under the rubble of the besieged territory, which is currently under complete siege by Israel. The situation remains dire as the Israeli military's shift to increased aerial assaults raises concerns about further civilian casualties and destruction in the already ravaged Gaza Strip.
