(Your City), (Your State) - Interstate 70 eastbound was closed for several hours on Tuesday morning due to blizzard conditions on Colorado's Eastern Plains. The closure stretched from Airpark Road on the eastern edge of the Denver metro area to the Colorado-Kansas border. Westbound lanes were also closed from the Kansas line to Deer Trail in Arapahoe County. However, around 10:15 a.m., the large closure was lifted in both directions on the interstate.
The closure came as a result of a winter storm that has been affecting parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. According to First Alert Meteorologist Dave Aguilera, the blizzard conditions are expected to persist through the end of Tuesday and into Wednesday morning.
Although the city itself was not under a blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service, it was forecasted to experience windy conditions. Drivers were advised to exercise caution and refrain from unnecessary travel.
In addition to Interstate 70, officials also closed Highway 36 leading from Byers to the Kansas line on Tuesday morning. Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on the latest road closures by visiting the Colorado Department of Transportation's cotrip.org website.
Blizzard conditions can be extremely hazardous, leading to limited visibility and treacherous driving conditions. Motorists are urged to prioritize safety and adhere to any directives provided by local authorities and transportation departments.
