In a shocking incident that has left a community in disbelief, a nearly six-month-old girl is fighting for her life at Children's Hospital after being intentionally shot in the head early Saturday morning. The accused, Mia Harris, the infant's paternal grandmother, allegedly carried out the heinous act inside an apartment on Dutchview Court in Liberty Township.

Distraught and terrified witnesses dialed 911, with one caller uttering the heartbreaking words, "My momma shot my niece." The baby's mother also made a frantic call, desperately pleading for help, stating, "Someone shot my baby. Hurry, please."

According to court documents, Harris is charged with intentionally shooting the baby at close range. Investigators revealed that she first fired multiple shots "through the bedroom door" before forcefully breaking it down. In a shocking development, she then turned her weapon towards another family member, aiming for their head but missing. Harris then turned her attention back to the helpless infant, shooting her while she lay on the bed.

When questioned about the motive behind the gruesome act, the baby's mother tearfully revealed, "Because she was mad at us. She's going crazy." The grandmother's motive remains unclear, leaving the family and the community searching for answers.

As news of this horrifying incident spread, the baby's maternal grandmother, April Traynor, expressed her deep love and concern for her gravely injured granddaughter. Traynor spoke of the baby as a "joy" and emphasized that she will need an outpouring of prayers and healing during this critical time.

April Traynor's sentiments were echoed by the infant's father and the community at large, who are grappling with the senseless act of violence inflicted upon an innocent child. Despite the tragedy, love for the baby remains unwavering, as she is described as an "angel sent to my daughter from heaven" by Traynor.

The accused, Mia Harris, has been charged with three counts of felonious assault. However, these charges may change as the case is brought before a grand jury. As of now, Harris's bond has been set at a staggering $1.5 million.

Authorities are investigating the incident further to determine the full extent of the circumstances surrounding this shocking act of violence that has left an entire community in mourning. As the baby fights for her life, the collective focus remains on supporting her recovery and ensuring justice is served in this devastating case.

This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the need for unity, compassion, and a commitment to protecting the most vulnerable among us.
