Congress is rapidly approaching the end of the week, which marks the deadline for funding the government. However, there is currently no clear path for how this will be accomplished. House Speaker Mike Johnson recently unveiled a short-term bill aimed at funding certain agencies and programs until mid-January, while others would receive funding until early February. However, Johnson's plan is already receiving opposition from some of his fellow House Republicans, making it unlikely to pass the Democrat-controlled Senate.

In other news, Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina has made an announcement regarding his presidential campaign. During an appearance on Fox News' "Sunday Night in America," Senator Scott revealed that he would be suspending his campaign. Scott, who is the only sitting Black Republican in the Senate, based his candidacy on his Christian faith and his experiences growing up with a single mother in the South. Despite his earnest efforts, he failed to gain significant traction in national polls, and it appeared unlikely that he would qualify for the upcoming fourth primary debate in December.

With Congress inching closer to the funding deadline, tensions are rising as negotiations continue. The short-term bill proposed by House Speaker Johnson has already encountered opposition, particularly from his fellow House Republicans. It remains to be seen how Congress will ultimately come to a resolution before the end of the week. As for Senator Tim Scott, his decision to suspend his presidential campaign is a testament to the challenges faced by candidates vying for the Republican nomination.
