In a latest development in the ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden, House Republicans have issued a subpoena to Lesley Wolf, an assistant U.S. attorney for Delaware. The subpoena demands answers regarding alleged interference by the Justice Department in the yearslong case into President Biden's son.

Republican Rep. Jim Jordan, chair of the House Judiciary Committee, called on Wolf to appear before the committee by December 7th, according to a copy of the congressional subpoena obtained by The Associated Press.

The subpoena to Wolf is part of the Republicans' broader impeachment inquiry into President Biden, as they seek to uncover evidence directly implicating him in any wrongdoing. Last week, subpoenas were issued to Hunter Biden and his brother James.

The investigation is focused on the business affairs of the Biden family and the handling of the Justice Department's investigation into Hunter Biden. Republicans claim that the investigation has been slow-walked and stonewalled. The U.S. attorney's office in Delaware has been conducting an investigation into Hunter Biden since at least 2019, as reported by CBS News.

Whistleblowers from the Internal Revenue Service have accused Wolf, who works alongside U.S. attorney for Delaware David Weiss, of deviating from standard investigative protocol and showing preferential treatment due to Hunter Biden's status as the president's son.

Republicans allege that the prosecutors involved in the case have deliberately avoided any involvement that would implicate Hunter Biden's father. In one incident, IRS employee Gary Shapley testified that Wolf refused to discuss an email referencing the "big guy" during a meeting after the 2020 election. Another incident involved the FBI informing Hunter Biden's Secret Service detail in advance of an interview to avoid any conflicts between law enforcement bodies.

Justice Department officials have defended their handling of the case, citing the unique circumstances surrounding a criminal investigation involving the son of a leading presidential candidate. Department policy advises caution in charging cases with potential political implications around the time of an election.

David Weiss, now the special counsel in charge of the case, denied allegations of political interference during a closed-door interview this month.

Despite these explanations, Republicans are demanding that Wolf appear before the committee, as she has first-hand knowledge of the Department's investigation into Hunter Biden. A voluntary request to appear over the summer was refused by Wolf.

Rep. Jim Jordan wrote in a letter to Wolf, "Given your critical role in the investigation of Hunter Biden, you are uniquely situated to shed light on whether President Biden played any role in the department's investigation and whether he attempted to obstruct either that investigation or our investigation."

The subpoena to Lesley Wolf marks a continuation of the Republican efforts to uncover information surrounding Hunter Biden's activities and any potential involvement of the president in the investigation. The House Judiciary Committee's inquiry continues to gather steam as Republicans push forward in their quest for answers.

The House Judiciary Committee is expected to hold hearings in the coming weeks to further investigate the allegations against Hunter Biden and to determine the extent of any interference by the Justice Department.
