A search operation is currently underway in Big Bend National Park as authorities intensify efforts to locate a 25-year-old hiker who went missing more than a week ago. Christy Perry, who had been camping in the park, failed to show up to her reservation on November 9, according to the National Park Service (NPS).

Perry embarked on her journey from Houston to Big Bend National Park in southwest Texas. After collecting a rental car in Midland, Texas, she arrived at the park on November 9, as confirmed by the NPS. However, she did not appear at her designated campsite in the Chisos Basin Campground that evening, raising concern among park officials.

The NPS reported that Perry's vehicle was discovered at the trailhead of the Lost Mine Trail, marking her last-known location within the park. As a result, authorities have closed the trail to facilitate the ongoing search operation.

Known for its challenging terrain, the Lost Mine Trail spans 4.8 miles round trip and traverses the wooded areas of the Chisos Mountains. However, Perry's exact whereabouts within the trail remain a mystery.

Described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 100 pounds, Perry has brown hair and a fair complexion, according to the NPS. In hopes of gathering more information, the NPS implored anyone who may have encountered Perry on November 8th or 9th along the Lost Mine Trail to contact the TipLine at 888-653-0009 or send an email to nps_isb@nps.gov.

As the search continues for Christy Perry, authorities and park officials are dedicated to ensuring her safe return. The community remains hopeful for a positive outcome as efforts to locate the missing hiker press on.
