TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - A high-speed chase came to a tragic end after crossing three Florida counties, resulting in a deadly crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident unfolded at approximately 11:20 a.m. when troopers received a request for assistance for a pursuit originating in St. Johns County. The suspect, who was involved in a carjacking in Duval County, had fled into St. Johns County on Interstate 95 before entering Flagler County.

As troopers initiated the pursuit, the suspect's vehicle collided with the rear of a semi-truck. The impact of the crash was severe and the suspect was pronounced dead at the crash site, as stated in an FHP report.

Following the collision, the southbound lanes of I-95, located south of SR-100, were closed due to the crash, resulting in a significant traffic jam on the interstate.
