In a shocking incident at Colerain High School in Ohio, a high school teacher has suffered a serious brain injury after being assaulted by a 16-year-old student. The student has been charged with felonious assault, as reported by the Colerain Police Department.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Thursday, January 4, when the student started acting "distraught" after ingesting an unknown drug at the school. The student then proceeded to repeatedly punch the teacher in the head, causing significant injuries.
Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Powers, in a statement, elaborated on the severity of the assault, stating that the teacher had to be transported to the hospital. In order to prevent brain damage due to swelling, her skull cap had to be removed.
Following the assault on the teacher, the student is also accused of harming a 15-year-old classmate. Reports suggest that the student was subsequently apprehended at a nearby career center and taken into custody.
Although the teen was initially ordered to be released from jail, the decision was overruled by a judge, according to prosecutors.
