New Delhi - The Gujarat Police have launched an investigation into a human smuggling network after an Airbus A340, carrying 303 Indian passengers, was grounded in France following suspicions of human trafficking. The aircraft had stopped in France for refueling when French authorities received an anonymous tip-off.

Most of the passengers on board were from Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, and Anand districts in Gujarat, while others hailed from Punjab. The police in both states are cooperating in the probe. It is alleged that the passengers had paid agents between four million to 12.5 million rupees to assist them in reaching the southern border of the United States from South America.

Superintendent Sanjay Kharat of the Gujarat state police stated, "We want to know how these people came in contact with the agents, or whether the agents contacted them, and what their plan was after reaching Nicaragua." He added that the police are determined to uncover the identities of the masterminds behind the smuggling network.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has received preliminary information regarding the agents involved in the incident. However, further details can only be obtained after questioning the passengers involved. The CID aims to ascertain how many individuals have been flown abroad using this method and identify others seeking to travel in a similar manner.

The Gujarat Police are working diligently to unravel the entire network behind this large-scale human smuggling operation. Their efforts will help track down the agents and ensure that justice is served for the victims.

Meanwhile, the Airbus A340, grounded in France, is set to arrive in Mumbai. Authorities will examine the evidence and statements from the passengers to aid the ongoing investigation.

The revelation of this human smuggling network has sparked concerns over the safety and security of individuals seeking to travel abroad. It emphasizes the need for increased vigilance and stronger measures against such illegal activities.

The Gujarat Police are committed to dismantling this human smuggling network and preventing further exploitation of vulnerable individuals. As the investigation progresses, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the modus operandi of this network and bringing the culprits to justice.
