Graduate Student Arrested after Random Stabbings at Louisiana Tech University

A graduate student was taken into custody on Monday after a series of random stabbings occurred on the campus of Louisiana Tech University. The incident took place outside the Lambright Sports and Wellness Center on the Ruston, Louisiana, campus, resulting in four individuals being injured, according to university officials.

The university stated that the attack appeared to be a random act of violence. The victims were stabbed as they were leaving the center, and the suspect immediately fled towards the main campus. However, campus police swiftly apprehended the suspect without incident.

University authorities were alerted to the stabbings at 9:08 a.m., and within a mere four minutes, the suspect was taken into custody. Identified as Jacoby Johnson, who was also identified as a student, he is currently being treated at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center for injuries sustained during the initial incident.

Among the four victims, one individual was airlifted to nearby Shreveport, Louisiana, while two others were transported to a local hospital. The remaining victim declined treatment. As of noon local time, one victim remains in critical condition at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center, while the other two victims are in serious but stable condition, according to the university.

It is worth noting that the three victims, aside from the graduate student suspect, were not students of the university, as confirmed by officials.

The swift response from university police in apprehending the suspect has brought a sense of relief to the Louisiana Tech University community. Authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and to ensure the safety of all students and faculty on campus.
