A Georgia man has been arrested by the FBI on charges of threatening to kill Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia. Sean Patrick Cirillo, a resident of Macon, allegedly used his phone to make threatening calls to Greene and her staff.

The news of Cirillo's arrest was initially reported by CNN. Senior law enforcement sources revealed that Cirillo called Greene's office twice on Wednesday, issuing explicit threats to "kill her next week." Incriminating evidence includes a recording of one of the calls, where the caller can be heard stating, "You don't think it's going to happen when you are out of power?" and "You don't think you are going to get payback?"

Cirillo is currently in custody and is expected to appear in federal court on Monday for his initial hearing. Greene expressed gratitude towards law enforcement for their swift action in response to the threat. In a statement, she commended the efforts of local and federal agencies, including the Rome City Police, Floyd County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Capitol Police, House Sergeant at Arms, and the FBI, for apprehending the suspect.

Recounting the impact on her personal life, Greene revealed that her family and staff also faced threats, prompting the closure of her district office due to the potential for violence.
