In a tragic incident involving Dodge County Sheriff's deputies, a resident from Fremont, Nebraska, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Nebraska State Patrol. The incident occurred at a home near East 34th Boulevard and Road 24, where deputies were attempting to speak with the individual.

Initially, the resident refused to engage with the deputies, as reported by the state patrol. However, a different resident later allowed the deputies access to the home, informing them that the person they were seeking had gone upstairs.

Before the deputies could make contact with the resident, a single gunshot was heard from an upstairs room. Rushing to the source of the sound, the deputies discovered the individual with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The man was immediately transported to Methodist Fremont Health, where authorities pronounced him dead.

In response to the incident, the Dodge County Sheriff's Office requested that the Nebraska State Patrol investigate the case as an in-custody death. The state patrol confirmed that none of the deputies involved discharged their firearms, and no other injuries were reported.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is still ongoing. Authorities remain focused on understanding the motives behind the resident's decision to take his own life.
